The Kentucky General Assembly approved a bill authorizing the building of the third State Capitol, also on the public square in Frankfort. After advertising for building plans and estimates, the Legislature accepted Gideon Shryock's plan to use a Greek Revival style--one of the first in the United States. The building was completed in 1830.
