"Capitol Buildings", an article by William B. Scott, Jr., "Kentucky Encyclopedia", ed. Dr. John Kleber, 1992, pgs 160-162.

The shortage of space in Kentucky's third Capitol Building prompted the General Assembly to appropriate $1 million to build a new Capitol. Land in south Frankfort was acquired for the project; clearing and excavation began May 25, 1905. The French Renaissance structure with Neoclassic dome was officially dedicated June 1, 1910. Total cost was $1,750,000.

Note: The offices of Kentucky's Secretary of State are located on the first floor & basement of the Capitol Building. The Land Office, also administered by the Secretary of State, is located in the basement of the Capitol Annex.
