Notes: May have been established as Lawrence in honor of William Lawrence, early settler. Identified as Lawrenceburg in an Act of the Kentucky General Assembly dated October 31, 1820. The General Assembly officially changed the name of the city from Lawrence to Lawrenceburg when Anderson County was created in 1827. (See Section 6 of Act creating county on the "Kentucky County Formations Database" under "Non-Military Registers & Land Records" on this website.)
